One other beach tourism object on Lombok Island of which its existence is not really widely known by the community, or tourists, is Bangko-Bangko Nature Park in Sekotong District, West Lombok Regency.
Its natural panoramic beauty, the soft shore sand, the blue sea water that looks like glass, with an amazing undersea view, and the friendliness of the local community who on average work as farmers and fishermen, makes this area really deserving to be developed as a new tourism destination.
“It can be said that this tourism object area has relatively remains untouched, and is almost 100 percent still natural,” said Hendri, a resident of Mataram City, who on that day happened to be fishing at Bangko-Bangko Beach.
Besides that, the typical waves in the Bangko-Bangko beach area is also very suitable for surfing. It is where the rolling waves that are long and in rows do not seem to end, that will absolutely become a new heaven for surfers, both for the beginner and the professional to satisfy the adrenaline to ‘dance’ on the waves.
Ironically, the foreign tourists who visit this area more often come directly from Bali. This means that Bangko-Bangko Nature Park is used by tourists from outside Lombok area than from Lombok itself.

It is not strange, remembering the road to and from this tourism object is relatively bad, with some parts of the route still off road. Besides in the location, there are still minimal lodgings.
From the geographical side, Bangko-Bangko Nature Park which is located at the end of the south west peninsula of Lombok Island is also relatively near to Nusa Penida Island (Bali), so that makes it easy for the foreign tourists who are vacationing in Bali to reach this area.
From Mataram City, the area is about 70 kilometers away. If using public transport, one can depart from Mandalika Terminal, then get off in Lembar Terminal, continue to Sekotong, then on to Bangko-Bangko.
But especially for the real adventurer tourists, the trip to Bangko-Bangko Nature Park area will be very interesting, with the route along the road presenting an amazing panorama.
For the travel from Lembar Terminal to Sekotong, there are two routes that can be taken, but both routes end up at the same place. The first route is via hills that have to the left and right sides dense and natural tropical forests. While the second route passes through the beautiful coastal area, with the panorama of fishing boats tied up, and where sometimes the smell of special grilled fish is carried in the air, when passing through the fishing settlements.

Beside the marine tourism objects, in this tourism object area measuring 2.169 hectare also is found a forest with complete and natural vegetation, as well as historical objects. The forest in Bangko-Bangko nature park includes in its ecosystem types of coastal forest, lowland monsoon forest, and mangrove forest.
In this place can be found various plants such as Biduri (Calotropis gigantea), Pandanus or screwpine (Pandanus tectorius), Bajur, Kesambi, Waru, etc. When we enter this area deeper in the dense of forest, more precisely in the hill end, will be found the remnants of an historical building, in the form of ruins of a Japanese military defense and observation fortification complete with the cannon.
Meanwhile on the seashore can be found a Mangrove forest, which is the habitat of various fauna such as crab, shrimp, partridge, bendol eagle, koakiau, sea eagle, etc. And if we are lucky, we can also find a rare butterfly that is protected by Law, the Common Birdwing or Troicles Helena.(SS Lelono)
