West Lombok

West Lombok has a tourism infrastructure that almost rivals South Bali - but thankfully it doesn't overwhelm. The wide sandy beaches of Senggigi invite some serious chilling-out, but the more fidgety can also explore old temples, markets and the trio of quaint little towns-Ampenan, Mataram and Cakranegara.

Senggigi
Senggigi is central tourism industry, located in west coast of lombok and the main tourist destination where you can find many places to stay from simple accomodatuon to five star front beach hotel,restauran,internet caffe and night live music bars.

Ampenan
Ampenan is the old port town and some Dutch colonial architecture is still visible in the west.

Mataram
The city of Mataram is the main administrative centre for Lombok and Sumbawa (NTB Province) and has goverment offices, banks, mosques, the main post office and Mataram university downtown.

Cakranegara & Bertais Traditional Market
Cakranegara is the central busines and Bertais is the biggest traditional market in Lombok with its colourfull thimg to sale everyday.

Pura Meru
Pura Meru at Jalan Selaparang. built in 1720 by Balinese prince Anak Agung Made Karang, this is the largest temple on Lombok. Its three main Meru (Pagoda) represent the Hindu trinity

Pura Mayura
Pura Mayura with its floating house in former time used as court for balinese kingdom who lead west lombok since 1502 till 1894.

Banyumulek & Gunung Pensong
Banyumulek is the village where do the people still make pottery with traditional thecknic and their skill come from mother to the daughter and Gunung Pengsong is one of hindu temple on lombok located up on the hill (500 meter) with makacan mongkey live in this temple, from here is the best place to view all side of Mataram surrounded by beutiful rice field.

Narmada
Narmada the temple with its holly spring called air awet muda (water of eternity) hindu people believe that the water sources direct from the lake on the mountain Rinjani and allso there is a big poll as replica of Segara Anak lake on the mountain.

Pura Lingsar
Pura Lingsar is the most important temple on lombok for both religion Hindu and Muslim wetu telu where in this temple they have big annual offering called Perang Ketupat to wellcome the rain seasion.

Gili Nanggu & Bangko - Bangko
Gili Nanggu is one of 6 island in south west of Lombok, unexplore island with white sand beach the best pleace for relaxing, swimming and snorkling with its colourfull fishes located 1,5 hours on car and 20 minutes with outriger boat. Bangko-bangko is a paforite pleace for surfing adventure.
